The Subspecies of the Emu (Dromaius novaehollandiae) |
There are still two subspecies of the Emu (Dromaius novaehollandiae) in Australia. Some authors recognize the subspecies Dromaius novaehollandiae woodwardi from the north of and west of Australia. |
Before people from Europe reached Australia there were three other types of emus: one of them in Tasmania, considered a species, and another in Kangaroo island, also considered a species. All three are extinct. |
